Then, [[Dan Gluszak]], the drummer for the [[Post Hardcore]] band, [[Guilt like Gravity]] was informed by his ex girlfriend, (who was at the time, going out with Hunter), that the band, [[Writ in Water]] was looking for a drummer. Surprisingly the father of the event promoter, Ryan Forsythe, was old friends with Taylor's mom and the two as toddlers used to have play dates. On the night of the gig the band, having never played a local gig outside their high school performances, packed the venue and performed for their largest crowd ever, 120 strong and full of energy. Attracting the attention of the other competing groups, some seasoned local performers, quickly created several rivals especially with the local hardcore group "Twenty Seven Dresses". Much to their luck, the band walked away with the grand prize of $1000 cash that night, an epic memory. 		+	In late March of 2009, Ryan Forsythe caught wind of an upcoming battle of the bands to play Long Island's very own Vans Warped Tour at Nassau Coliseum and suggested The Queue sign up. Held at The Vibe Lounge, the band progressed through the qualifications in April and made it into the finals in May. On the night of the finals, May 22nd 2009, The Queue sold out their pre-sale but was shocked when over 150 people showed in support and packed the venue full. Controversially, when they took to the stage as the last band of the night, drummer Taylor Sperring, had been informed the song limit was changed from 3 to 4 but chose to ignore the change as the 4th song, ''Wrong (Apartment Complex)'' was specifically rearranged for the competition and started with a drum intro. He is quoted saying afterwards to a judge "it's about the fans and the music, f*ck the competition". After quickly playing through 3 songs the sound engineers began to pull the equipment off the stage but as the crowd cheered for an encore, guitarist James Rainis turned to Taylor and mouthed "go". "I remember seeing one judge face palm, another who blogged about us through up the rock n' roll sign and the other in the sound booth flip us off" said Taylor. The sound engineer tried to stop the performance by shutting off the PA but the crowd began to scream the lyrics. Evidently their decision to play an encore significantly affected their odds of winning and the group placed as runner-up to Long Island band "Score 24". However, as runner up, The Queue landed a spot on the main stage at Big Giant and The Extravaganza in October 2009.

		+	While shopping for microphones on Craigslist, needed to perform at their senior prom, Taylor met DJ Johnny Juice of Public Enemy who coincidentally happened to be close friends with Taylor's drum teacher, Chris Scherer. Soon after, Juice agreed to setup some recording time for the group and The Queue recorded it's first 6 track EP in little less than a week.

Unfortunately, Jason Lombardo had a conflict involving marching band and the group was forced to find a substitute. After contacting Erik Seiferth, a past bandmate from their "Evening of Jazz" gig back in 2007, he agreed to sub for Jason. Although Erik plays tenor sax as supposed to alto, he introduced a new dynamic to Jason's lines and has now officially joined the lineup.
